About Step by Step Native Landscaping
Step by Step Native Landscaping developed from a personal passion. A lifelong love for the outdoors led to a deep education in native plants and sustainable agriculture. What started as a hobby expanded into a small business focused on designing and installing ecologically sound gardens.
Meet Asaf
Asaf moved to St. Petersburg in 2013, where he quickly got involved with urban agriculture and the integration of native plants in city landscapes. Asaf, first, worked as a gardening program coordinator for a rehabilitation program, then started his own home nursery where he grew and sold native plants to the community. In 2019, he used the knowledge and skills he acquired over the years to establish Step by Step Native Landscaping. His passion is transitioning water thirsty lawns into lower maintenance lush gardens by utilizing Florida native species and edible trees. With each project, he aspires to build natural habitats and food sources for wildlife, and have these gardens become outdoor attractions for families on their own property. Asaf continuously explores the variety of Florida’s natural communities, and has learned about the variety of the flora of this state extensively. Asaf strives to share this knowledge with his clients, teaching them how to best take care of their gardens based on his extensive trial-and-error experience.
